Hey dearies~! I am back with an update (like finally).
Last Saturday was my first and extremely memorable concert/festival. Introduced by my ever-so artistic-hipster bestie, Min. I am so glad she had invited me!!
And while I am sitting in front of my lappy typing this post, my YouTube playlist for Kimbra is on violent replay; still experiencing my post-festival syndrome....
My OOTD for that day
Note to self: If ever there is another Noon-to-Midnight Open air Concert, NEVER wear leatherette shorts and leather shoes. EVER.
Under the unforgiving sun, you might as well light your pants on fire.
Thanks again to Min for letting me into her house (yes Eudy, I GOT INTO HER HOUSE! *Insidejoke*) and helping me with last minute nail polish XD
Queuing at Gardens by the Bay to get into the festival ground.
Check out the amount of people!
That was just half the number if compared to the evening.
Right, I should probably explain what is Laneway Festival about.
This Indie music festival started first in Australia and was named "Australia's most insurgent and unique pop music event" by Pitchfork Media. It landed on the shores of Singapore in 2011 and with the past 2 years being held in Fort Canning, this would be LanewaySG's first time to be held in Gardens by the Bay. However, judging the number of turnouts this year, it is really hard to imagine how they managed to squeeze into Fort Canning >.<
-Information from LanewayFestSG FB
With 14 bands and 2 stage, that Saturday was really intoxicating.
My love-hate relationship with the Sun.
Still, I am thankful for the clear sky that day. I really can't afford to have my hair wet by the rain OTL (With my head balding like this...)
But of cos, hot weather means topless hot men a perfect suntanning for Caucasians.
What? If it means a fest for our eyes, why not?
Secretly taken by Min's friend, Susanna, hahahah!
The lineup - Kings of Convenience, Polica, Cloud Nothings, Divine Fits, Of Monsters and Men, Japandoids, Nicolas Jaar, Kimbra, Real Estate, ALT-J, Yeasayer, Bat for lashes, Tame Impala, Gotye.
Of Monsters and Men - Little Talks
Another note to self: Do not attempt to wear a non-cotton inner piece.
I took out my galaxy-print inner top in order not to have a portable sauna. With the afternoon sun burning bright, I couldn't care less about my image or my fats at that point.
Lucky I decided to wear a halterneck inner piece.
Hipsters Unite!!
Kimbra's grand entrance. Sorry, was not able to get a good picture >.<
Her band came out first and all of us were waiting anxiously for her arrival.
Of cos, she didnt disappoint us when she appeared in this incredibly interesting tutu dress with light blue wigs for sleeves (I KNOW RIGHT?! WIGS!)
At that moment, I finally understood why people cry at concerts. I mean, seeing your favorite artist performing at such close distance, giving their all, you can't help but feel touched in a way. I know, cos I finally felt it. I almost teared when I saw Kimbra there on stage. I was practically screaming along to every song, jumping, dancing(as much as the space allows me) and getting high. Her performance is superb. Really. Even 'Superb' is an understatement.
At that point, I felt totally alive.
Kimbra- Good Intention
One of my favorite songs by her. I was super thankful that she sang all the songs that I really loved.
Kimbra- Settle Down
She actually wrote this when she was 16! So super talented!
Sun setting, so lets....
Party~!!!

Beautiful night scenery

Bat for Lashes - What's a Girl to do
I had only known Kimbra and Nicolas Jaar before this event. Really, after all this I got to really properly listen to a lot of fantastic bands like Of Monsters and Men, Bat for Lashes and Yeasayer.
And of cos, the highlight of the event,
Gotye - Somebody I use to know (with special Appearance by Kimbra) who else?
Our expressions were epic when she finally appeared on stage beside Gotye.
Eargasm satisfied.
I've never been to the club before, but I guess this is close enough? First time to actually party 12 hours straight. With all the perspiration and dancing, I feel so skinny the next day LOL.
Overall: An awesome event, with a very good choice of venue. I like how the cleaners started to clean up even before the event ends. However, squashed plastic cups and bottles were all over the grass in front of the stage, caused by the stampede of drunk/excited fans. Unavoidable I know, but still a horrifying sight. Another downside of the event: The price. Gosh, you know how much a bottle of 500ml Fuji Water cost? $5! A 1.5L of Ice mountain only cost half of that! From what I heard, in Australia, bottles of water were GIVEN. Well, that was what I heard anyways....
