HotSprings are one of the main tourist attractions in Taiwan that you should not miss. Since Beitou's hotsprings dated back till the period when the Japanese governed Taiwan, I felt that we would be able to see historical architectures if we go there.
Hence, I went to search online for a Hotspring Hotel from XinBeitou.
The one I found was ShuiDou (水都) and it is located deep into the town. According to it's website, it was the place where a Taiwanese drama was filmed.
The place "infested" with signs, so you really wouldn't get lost
Probably :P
The Beitou Library.
I'll love to go in at least once. The atmosphere just feels lovely and calm.
Our place for the hot spring- the darker building at the back
Different places have different packages. We signed up for the open-air springs which cost around NT350, plus NT100 deposit for the locker keys. Those includes a towel and a bottle of mineral water. There are set meals for those who wants to have lunch/dinner after the hot spring. Since we were running on budget, we decided not to get that package.
If you like have a more private space, you can always opt for a room.
This is actually the size of a bed

The whole place was beautifully decorated even though it was rather small. We were lucky enough to have the whole place all to ourselves. I think that was because we probably were the only ones who would get into the HotSprings during the afternoon OTL
One bad thing about the locker room is that the floor were all covered in a type of board that prevents customers from slipping. However, those were very painful to step on. It was worst when we finished our "soaking". I even had to take it up during my wash-up. I do hope that they changed that board.
The changing room with showers and lockers
The temperature of the water is around 40 plus degrees (if I remember correctly). I was able to really enjoy the Spring as that was my ideal temperature even when I bath XD I found out that apparently the temperature of my bathing water temperature is considered "crazy" as my friends were not able to take the heat of the Spring. LOL.
The Open-Air Spring (露天風呂)

After the spring. My face is REALLY red ;A;
After we decided to head back to the locker room, 2 more groups of people were preparing to get into the spring. I consider us the lucky ones as once we changed and headed out to the thermal valley, we realized it was about to rain.
We actually wanted to go to the Thermal Valley.
But after we were done with our hot spring, the place just closed :(
We literally saw the gates shutting in front of us.
All natural hot spring water.
Place to walk down and soak your feet.
Hot Spring Museum
This place also closed at 5pm ;A;

Xin Beitou Station (新北投)
We were really hungry after the hotsprings so we quickly headed down to ShiLin night market to eat to our heart's content.
Fried XL Chicken (炸鸡排)
A very big piece. Brace yourself for some bones too XD
Fried Milk (炸鲜奶) - Fried fresh milk cubes on a stick
A queer thing to see. I personally don't like it cos I am not a big fan of milk >.<
PaoPao Ice (泡泡冰)
There were many shops that sold this.
I do like the Red Bean Peanut flavour, it taste unique. XD
Sharing the Smelly Tofu (臭豆腐 ) was not enough for me,
so, I got one to myself XD
The other one was Pig's Blood soup (猪血汤)
Soft Ice "Kachang" (棉棉冰) - Milk flavoured topped with Hershey's syrup
My fav XD, and yesh, that is the Caramel puddings!
Soft Ice "Kachang" (棉棉冰)- Mango flavour
- To get to Xin Beitou, please get down at Beitou station and transfer to the next platform.
- There are many hotels in XinBeiTou itself so its always better to research before hand online before heading down and hunt for a place. Eg. For the cheapest deal, there is the Millennium Public Hot Spring which is outdoors and much cheaper than those in hotels. The price range around NT40 to NT60(with locker) whereas the normal hotel ones range around NT300 and above.
- Since it is rare to find traditional Japanese-style Hot Springs in Taiwan, it is always advisable to bring along your swimming suit.
- Be sure to wash before and after Hot Springs. But Do Not use soap to wash up after that.
- Every attraction in that area (eg. HotSprings Museum, Thermal Valley) closes at 5pm, so be sure to plan your trip properly.
