Taipei Day4: Taipei 101 + Concert

One can not miss going to Taipei 101 when in Taipei.

Taipei's trademark skyscraper,
the formal World's Highest building: Taipei 101.

We made a mistake by walking all the way to the tower, thinking that there would be a lift there. The correct way would be by going through the Taipei 101 Mall.

The phone-like device is an audio-aid to describe the
places you see when you look out of the observatory.

This gold-painted Giant Ball is placed in the tower in order to
balance the building whenever there is Earthquake.
Made by multiple layers.

Feeling rather hungry, we were too lazy to walk to a nearby mall for wider range of food. Instead, when we saw Din Tai Feng, we all agreed to just go in and eat. Since we divided the food among ourselves, we each did not really pay much. However, we were not exactly very full either.

Note: This Din Tai Feng in Taipei 101 is not the original restaurant. Of Course, as compared to Singapore, this would be cheaper, and taste more original.

Fish served cold (Forgot the name)

Xiao Long Bao!
It has been very long since I've tasted one this good.
It made me fall in love with it again. LOL

When we went to the Taiwan Visitors Association in Singapore to see if we could obtain any goodies, we were asked if we would like to attend this concert. We did not know what it was about at first, but to experience a concert in Taiwan would be memorable, so we decided to accept the tickets.

This concert is actually the Tourism Board's way to promote Taiwan to the tourists, seeing how most of the people there were actually from all over the world.
Taiwanese idols were invited to talk about Taiwan's scenery, food and places to have fun.

Amber Kuo starting the concert

Faherenheit talking about Taiwan's food
Interesting to note: It seems like they have a large fan base in Japan,
seeing how the Japanese were screaming their hearts out when they appeared

Sodagreen's performance
I had never heard their songs before.
After I heard it the first time, I am a fan XD

Note:

  • Alight at Taipei City Hall Station.
  • There are lots of ways to walk to Taipei 101 from the MRT station. You can choose to walk outside to experience Taipei's city street or to walk through shopping malls.
  • Food in Taipei 101 is considered expensive. There is a mall opposite of Taipei 101 mall named NewYork and at B1, you should find a Food Street. The food should be cheaper around there.
  • Goodie bags for Free-and-easy travelers can be obtained from the Taiwan Visitors Association (30 Raffles Place, #10-01, Chevron House) Bring along your airplane booking slip and information about where you would be staying and you would be able to get free gifts for each traveler. The gifts varies from time to time. If you are lucky, you can even obtain a MRT card.
