Entrance of the TamSui Old Street
Believe It Or Not entrance
Long neck Turtle (Alive)
Two-nose Pig (Stuffed->Dead)
Cute little Tarantula
All the way left: Woman's condom
That one came with a manual on how to use it. It was sold in Europe for a period of time.
Right side: Condom of an Elephant
Street foods stalls occupies almost every corner of the street. With many self-proclaimed 'Number 1 in Taiwan' stalls selling similar stuffs, it is really hard to choose.
Seller making the long ice cream
NT15 per cone
I shared one cone with Chuyi
I remembered that we each took a turn to eat and there was once the ice cream was about to fall over.
I grabbed the ice cream right in the middle.
Reflexes.
GuanYin Shan (觀音山)
The view from the bay
You can cross to that side via a boat or bus
After a while, we lost each other and so our group split up again. Chuyi, Shiyi and I went a rather long way in search of the Lover's Bridge.
On the way: Twisted Fried Potato
It taste alot different that what was brought in SG.
This was more crispy, although Shiyi said it was rather salty.
Note: Correct way to eat it is by plucking the bottom.
Night view
We walked till it got dark and honestly, we have no idea where we were. However, since I figured we would not really get lost if we kept to the water, we just walked down the side, hoping to see a directory.
Tamsui StarBucks at night!
We were bored. LOL
As we walked blindly, we finally found the directory, at the Jetty port. Still thinking of what to do, the worker over there asked us if we would like to take the boat to the Lover's Bridge. I asked if we could walk there, he said yes, but it would take 2 hours to get there by foot. I immediately tapped my card and walk towards the boat. It shortly departed after that. We were damn lucky XD
The boat to Lover's Bridge.
View of the Lover's Bridge on the boat
From what was written somewhere at the start of the bridge, it says that this bridge that connects the two sides of Tamsui was named "Lover's Bridge" because it was officially opened on Valentine's Day. LOL Nice way to name a structure.
Taken on the bridge
After crossing- taken at the bottom of the bridge
There is a public bus to take from there back to the MRT station. So the flow of the journey was rather smooth XD
Before I went back to Taiwan, I told my mum I would surely do 2 things:
1. Buy Pon-de-ring from Mister Donut
2. Buy my favourite coffee from 85oC
I did none of it ;A;
All the Mister Donut stores I went DID NOT HAVE PON DE RING!!! (Sobs)
Given to us by our friend. Since we missed this store.
A very famous store in Tamsui and it was labelled as "must-eat"
But I can't seem to remember the name....OTL
The other group of friends missed out the Lover's Bridge, so we taught them where to take the bus and which bus to take from the station. The 3 of us went back to the hotel first. It was the first time we went back so early. Initially we planned to buy something to eat too, since we had not stopped for our dinner. In the end we went out after Lingyu came back and ate at the 7-eleven just below our hotel. Really a very convenient store XD
Note:
- Tamsui ( 淡水 ) is the very last stop via the red line. So it is really easy to get there.
- In order to get to the Jetty, take note of the map before going into the Old Street. We were lucky enough to reach the jetty blindly since we had totally strayed off the path OTL
- The jetty port accepts the MRT card
- Public buses also used the cards
Right, before we went out, the girls did an 'experiment'. We took a picture of how the room looked like before we went out and another after we came back.
Before:
We were the super messy types OTL
I pity the cleaner. Seriously.
