Honestly I was rather surprised since I did not think I would be lucky enough to get chosen when I signed up for the "I want to be a Gyaru" campaign.
When the email came, I was really happy to be shortlisted, and furthermore, shortlisted for a Rock-style Gyaru makeover! I always wanted to know how to do my makeup in rock style and I now had a sensei to teach me how to achieve that look :)
Went down to Takashimaya's watsons for the makeover on Friday night:
My attempt to dress to the theme.

My Sensei is Hana Leong, who studies makeup and works as a makeup artist. I was told by the sales girls at the Shibuya Gals counter that I was so lucky to have her as my sensei. I think so too!
She was really professional, teaching me the ways of makeup, what to do and what not to do when applying the layer on my face. Before this makeover, I've always been using my hand and those little sponge appliers for makeup. Those full sets of brushes I brought? Never used before. Now that I know what could be used for what, I would be bringing my brushes for events from now on XD
Sensei taught me the most important thing I've always wanted to learn, contouring my nose! When she applied the contour and plus that line of highlight, I was really amazed on how my nose turned out! Thank you!!
After the makeover: (not a good pic cos I took with my HP)
Didnt manage to take a pic with her >.<
So~ the second day I tried to recreate the look that she taught me to an event held at Takashimaya Watsons.
My attempt to recreate the Gyaru Rock look:
- Apply Face Primer, Concealer and BB cream.
- Fill in the eyebrow with a grey eye shadow - in order not to look too fierce, lighten the front brow (closer to the nose) and darken the back
- Apply eye shadow (2 shades of red to have that gradient look) on the ends of upper lid and also on the lower - spread out the red on the lower lash so that when the eyeliner is applied, the red can still be seen
- Apply eye liner on upper lid - to prevent having '2 lashes', line the liquid liner close to the eye
- Apply eye liner on the bottom lid - in order to create a more natural look, use an angled eye liner brush and a black eye shadow to line the bottom lash. Line close to the eye and attach the ends to the upper eyeliner to create a "V"
- Use bronzer / brownish eye shadow and a flat brush to contour the nose - start from the tip of the inner eyebrow to the tip of the nose, leaving a small space for highlighting, blend the shade
- Apply highlight with a thin brush straight down the nose for an effect of a sharper nose
- Highlight the side of the eyes - from the temple to the bottom eye (near cheek bone), a bit of "V" for a more 3D look
- Curl eye lashes - to make the lashes stay curled longer, use hair dryer or (as Hana had used during the makeover) a lighter to slightly heat up the lash curler
- Apply mascara to both upper and lower lashes
- Stick on the false lashes! (For the makeover, Hana used Dolly Wink's #4 Feminine Style upper lash and #6 Baby Cute lower lash [Only up to the 4th one] ) - stick the falsies as close to the lashes as possible so that you do not appear to have 2 eye lashes. For the top, since DW's #4 is for the ends of the upper lash so that it creates a cat eye look, stick the falsies from the middle of the eye till the end. For the bottom, stick to the bottom of the mascara-ed lashes. DW's #6 comes in 6 individual lashes, normally to apply, pliers are used. But my pliers never seems to work with me, so I used my fingers XD
- Line the falsies if the upper falsies looks out of place with the black eye shadow
- To make the falsies and lashes appear as one, press your mascara-ed lashes together with the falsies.
- Apply blusher (I normally skip this step when I am going out since I flush very easily >.<)
- Put on lip colour - Hana mixed some nude gloss, pink and nude lip sticks which I don't have it at home. So instead, I applied the hot pink lip stick I got from Hayley for my 21st birthday XD Fits well with my outfit :)

Thanks so much for pei-ing me!!
I hope it did do her teaching justice. I've learnt so much about makeup in that session.
Thank you Shibuya Gals SG for providing this chance and Hana Sensei for teaching me so much tips about makeup!
