Honestly, I seriously hate it when I have to choose my new gadget since I am completely CLUELESS on what I want. As long it can allow me to call, sms, take nice pictures, listen to music (which is basically all smart phones available on market) I would be contented.
A letter came and stated that if I get the Iphone5 16G, I would be entitled to a discount on the bill since my house and wireless uses the same network. My mum asked if I would want it, and since I have not decide on S3 or Iphone5, I just said ok. Basically, it had already helped me decide, in a way.
My parents accompanied me down to Starhub and it turned out that the I5 16G was out of stock. Fate works in strange ways, because the next thing I know, I was looking at this tablet from ASUS.
(Image taken from the web..this is NOT my hand)
I was just playing around. I thought it was just another Ipad or Sumsumg's Note 10.1. I held it up, felt the light-weight and turned it. I was completely amazed by what I saw at the back:
A PHONE ATTACHED TO A TABLET!
It was ASUS Padfone 2.
I am not kidding when I say I know nothing about gadgets. I had never seen or even heard of such a phone and (according to the internet) it was released in SG since Nov, and apparently only exclusive to Starhub. It was a new phone so not much research could be done about the phone.
It was like having an angel and devil in my head, both weighing pros and cons. Should I get the multi-tested and proven Iphone5 or this new and probably the next break-through Padfone2?
My dad turned to me and said, " Its ASUS! Taiwanese brand. If you get this, I would pay for you. Support Taiwan's product!" 0.0....
With my tendency to get phones that people wouldn't normally buy, and the super good feeling I had when holding the phone in my hand, combining my dad's logic and sponsorship, I decided to get the Asus Padfone 2.
Now, I am still experimenting how to use this phone since it does not have any manuals provided ;A;
FAQs- from friends
How was the phone? Is it good? What made you buy this?
Honestly, I have no idea. Since this is the first smart phone I had, I have no way to compare it. Guess having a bigger screen and with an even bigger detachable screen (in the form of tablet), reading online magazine or watching movies is a plus. I had trouble getting use to my mum's 4S screen after spending a day with my Padfone. The size is similar to S3, but personally, I like the feel of Padfone in my hand better.
Does it have covers / matte screen protectors?
At my time of purchase, I've asked the same question and the person there also had no idea since it was a new phone. I've checked on ASUS' Singapore FB page and it was said that a free cover would be given with every sign-on/renewal of a plan at Nex. Well, too bad I didnt get it at Nex ;A;....
I wanted a matte protector like the Iphone's. One factor during the debate was that Iphone has this matte finishing that just looks better. Who likes to see finger prints on their screen?
I am a clumsy person, so I think having a protector is safer for the phone. My parents would be going back to Taiwan soon so lets hope there are pretty ones there :3
Is the camera good?
According to Sam, the specs of the camera is very good. However, for me (at least up till now) I feel that Edris' S2 front camera is better. Comparing the picture quality of my friends' S3 and Note 2, I still felt that Padfone 2 lacked something. Not sure if it was just me and my knowledge of the new technology....
It has this beautify-mode though. It would auto correct your face shape, make you flawless and can even add some blush to your face. Bad thing is...if you have shaky hands like me, you will turn out to have unbalanced cheeks. OTL
Can the Pad be used stand-alone?
Well, the actual name for the tablet is actually "Padfone Station" , so its a No. It is simply just a bigger screen for the phone. Good thing is, it could also serve as a charger when your phone is dying. Tried, tested and loving it XD I do prefer to type on the pad too. Really not use to touch-screen. Had this super complicated love-hate relationship with the auto-correct too :/
My new phone....packaging. LOL
In conclusion, I am still indecisive on how I feel about this phone. But hey, as long as it is not bad news, all is good right? XD
I still have a lot of backlog posts (not like anyone cares *laughs*), but ever since I got data plan and found Instagram..., seriously, do I even need a blog? LOL!
Anyways, follow my Instagram if you want to be flooded with my camwhore pictures and things random. You had been warned~
Now, I shall continue to procrastinate till my next post XD
